7 Valentines Day Crafts That Will Make You Fall In Love
Valentine’s day is the perfect occasion to make gifts for your loved one, spouse and children! These 7 Valentine’s day crafts can be done at home in your free time.

Monogrammed Heart Coasters

These rustic monogrammed heart coasters make great gifts for your loved one.
Materials:Log approximately 3 inches in diameter
  • Saw
  • Paint
  • Paint brush
  • Sand paper
  • Polyurethane
Cut a log into thin circles to form coasters. Use sandpaper to sand down any sharp edges, then paint hearts and initials of your loved one on the surface of the coasters. Protect the coasters with polyurethane when you’re done.

Stained Glass Tissue Paper Hearts

Stained glass tissue paper hearts make wonderful window decorations for your living room or bedroom. This project can be done with children as young as 2, provided that they have proper supervision and assistance.
Materials:
  • Clear contact paper
  • Red and pink tissue paper cut into little squares
  • Scissors
Have your child use tissue paper squares to decorate the sticky side of a sheet of contact paper. Lay down a second sheet of contact paper over the tissue paper, so the tissue paper is safely enclosed between two sheets of contact paper. Cut out the contact paper into the shape of a heart and tape it to your windows at home.

Heart Thumbprint Platter

This thumbprint platter will be a keepsake in your family for years to come.
Materials:
  • White platter
  • Glass paint
  • Oil based permanent marker
Have each family member decorate a plain white platter with painted hearts made out of their own thumb prints, then label each thumb print to indicate which member of the family made which heart. Bake the platter to finish the project. You can see the whole process here:

Edible Love Letters

Make sugar cookies using your favorite sugar cookie recipe, then ice the cookies and wait for the icing to dry. When the icing is dry, use a food-grade marker to write a love letter on the cookie, and give the cookie to a loved one. If you’re not sure which recipe will work well for this project, take a look at this recipe online.

Heart Chalk Board

This heart chalk board can be hung anywhere in the house and may be used to write loving messages to members of your family.
Materials:
  • Wooden heart-shaped board
  • Chalkboard paint
Use red or pink chalkboard paint to paint a wooden heart-shaped board. When it’s dry, hang the chalkboard anywhere in your house that will be visible to your family members. Write a new message on the board every day leading up to Valentine’s day!

Paint Strip Valentine’s Day Cards

Get creative with these hand made Valentine’s day cards.
Materials:
  • Red and pink sample strips from a paint store
  • Paper cutting dies
  • Glue
  • White archival card stock or paper to make a card
  • Markers and other materials
Fold over your white cardstock or paper to form the shape of a card. Use the paper cutting dies to cut out little shapes from your paper strips, then glue the pink and red shapes to your card. Use markers, paint and other materials to write a message on the inside or outside of your card. Take a look at examples of this project in action here:

Framed Hearts From the Kids

These precious keepsakes make good gifts for grandparents.
Materials:
  • Pencil
  • Construction paper
  • Paint
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Frame
Give each of your children one piece of construction paper with a large heart drawn on it. Have your children paint the hearts, using finger paint or whatever paint you have on hand. Allow the paint to dry and cut out the hearts. Glue the hearts to a decorative piece of paper and mount it in a frame.
