Rustic Fall Color Schemes
Fall is here, and it’s inspiring everyone! It’s at this time of year that we like to showcase our best fall paint colors and how they can be used in the home. If you’re going to be starting a paint project sometime soon, we encourage you to consider painting your home in beautiful shades of orange, gray, blue-gray or cream.

Gray and White

Gray and white clouds are common in fall. Gray and white are also classic paint colors that can be used successfully in almost any room. In darker parts of the house (north- and east-facing rooms), we recommend using more light grays and whites. In south-facing and western-facing parts of the house, where natural light is more prevalent, darker grays can make rooms look stately and elegant.

Blue Gray, Greige, and White

Blue-gray and greige (a color between beige and gray) remind us of chilly autumn Sunday afternoons when the breeze has picked up and leaves are flying by. These sophisticated colors go well together in living rooms, but can also be used in bedrooms with relaxing, beautiful results. When working with three paints colors in one room, pick one color to be the dominant shade and leave the others to be accents. This helps establish a structure and order to the colors in the room and makes it easier to select matching furnishings and accessories.

Burnt Orange, Light Gray, Cream

Burnt orange is a common color that people use in kitchens and dining rooms. Combined with light gray and cream, these colors remind us of long walks in the park, back to school days and the approach of Halloween. Again, select a dominant color to be the “main” paint color on the walls, then use the other colors to paint the trim, crown molding or an accent wall.

Dark Yellow, Deep Orange, and Cream

Dark yellow and deep orange combined with cream looks great in bedrooms and guest rooms, where they can make the walls pop. You can balance these colors with a soft gray if necessary.

Paint Suggestions

Looking for the perfect fall color for your home? These four Benjamin Moore paint colors have all the beauty and spice of a crisp fall day.
  • Roasted Sesame Seed: This creamy, dark yellow contains just a little bit brown, perfect for matching earth-toned furnishings in public areas of the house. We recommend painting this color in your foyer, living room, dining room or kitchen.
  • Azores: Reminiscent of the soft blue-gray of a rainy fall afternoon, Azores is a relaxing, peaceful color, perfect for a bedroom or bathroom.
  • Thicket: Just a little bit brown and a little bit gray, Thicket looks like the smoke that rises from burning leaves. Classy and sophisticated, this color works well on crown molding or wainscoting in areas like the dining room and family room.
  • Maryville Brown: Maryville Brown is earthy, soft and perfect in combination with light gray, cream or white.
