New Year, New Improvements
2017 is almost here! If you’re planning to paint or upgrade your home’s interior color in the coming year, now is the time to start thinking about the palette. At Ace Paint and Unfinished Furniture, we love tracking trending paint colors and color schemes. In this post, we’ve compiled some of the best paint trends of the New Year. Whether you’re thinking about painting a single room or the whole house, we can help you pick out your palette for the New Year.

Bright, Bold and Unexpected Splashes of Color

In this color scheme, start with a neutral color scheme. Use shades of cream, beige, brown and gray to your heart’s content, making the room sophisticated and elegant. Next, choose one or two bright, bold accent colors to create an unexpected and surprising focal point in the room. For example, consider painting your fireplace mantel in a bold and unusual shade of yellow or warm yellow-orange. This color scheme is both fun and playful, perfect for family rooms, kitchens and some dining areas.

Warm Grays

Gray has been in fashion for several years now, and that doesn’t seem to be changing any time in the near future. It’s the perfect neutral in many ways because it runs between cool and warm, and thus can be matched to nearly any other color in the room.
In 2017 the most popular shades of gray will be on the warm end of the spectrum. Colors like Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter and Edgecomb Gray will make their appearance in rooms like the living room and dining room especially. These sophisticated, gorgeous shades look best when combined with colors like khaki, soft shades of gray-brown and cream.

Dramatic but Monochromatic

Monochromatic color schemes are becoming more popular in homes and businesses everywhere. These color schemes are made up of a single color in many different shades. Take a look at these images on Houzz, where you can see the monochromatic color scheme in action in a variety of rooms.
If you’re thinking about using monochromatic color in your home, we recommend choosing different shades of the same color, rather than choosing all one shade. Painting the walls with different shades can help keep the appearance of the room varied and interesting.

Eclectic Color

2017 will be the year of eclectic color combinations! Combining tropical hues like aquamarine, bold red and warm, orange-yellow can make rooms like the kitchen or playroom more enjoyable. Picking a dominant color to paint the walls and dispersing the rest of the color throughout the room through furniture and accessories will help ensure that the room is bright and cheerful without being overwhelming.

Dark and Light Combos

Dramatic combinations of dark and light colors can be used to create an artful visual effect in almost any room, from the bedroom to the living room. To achieve this effect, try painting the walls of your home a darker color like Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy, then add white furniture pieces to add visual interest to the room. In small rooms, we recommend the reverse: paint the walls a lighter color and use darker pieces of furniture as the accents. This prevents the room from feeling too cramped or claustrophobic.
