Paint Your Office For Success

The type of paint that you choose for your office can have a big impact on the environment where you do work. Picking the right color and the right type of paint is important. Knowing all the factors to consider can help you choose the right office paint for your company’s needs.
Pick the Right Color For Your Occupation
Color impacts mood, energy and productivity. In office environments where communication and teamwork is important, shades of blue can help people to relax and collaborate. Choose a shade of soft or medium-toned blue to keep yourself and your employees feeling peaceful and productive.
If creativity is especially important in your office, shades of green can help stimulate the imagination. Use green paint in combination with soft gray to keep the office environment peaceful and calm.
Red stimulates the appetite and increases the heart rate. This can be useful in offices where people work late nights and in the early morning, however red can also cause anxiety. To ensure that your office environment stimulates your employees without creating an unpleasant environment, try combining red with soothing colors like soft brown, beige or gray.
Orange can help spark enthusiasm but can also lead to feelings of aggression, and thus is best used in moderation. Yellow is similar to orange in that it can increase energy levels but can also put workers on edge. This is another color that is best when combined with a more soothing color.
Avoid large swaths of stark, flat, stark colors like white, which can reduce morale and negatively impact mood.
Consider VOCs
VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compound. VOCs can contribute to poor indoor air quality. To create a healthy work environment, use paints that contain no VOCs. This will help reduce health hazards for yourself and your employees.
Neutrals Create a Relaxed Work Environment
Neutral colors like gray, beige and soft shades of gray-green, gray-blue and gray-beige can all help create a relaxed work environment that can soothe employees and customers. If your business is known to create pressure and stress for employees or clients, soothing neutrals can help level out moods. Glossy or Flat?
One of the last questions you’ll have to ask yourself when choosing a paint for your office space is is whether the walls should be painted in a glossy paint or a flat paint. Glossy paint is easier to clean, so if your work happens to involve anything messy that could dirty the walls, glossy paint is the safer choice. Glossy paint is also reflective, which bounces more light around the room. This can increase energy in the office and lift spirits. Flat paint is more subdued, which can create a muted, quiet atmosphere.
