Fun Fall Crafts To Make With Your Kids
Fall is a great time to do fun art projects with your children! With parental help, these five art projects are perfect for children of a variety of ages.

Pumpkin Apple Stamps

Materials:

  • Orange, green and black paint
  • Paper plate
  • Apple and knife
  • White paper
  • Paint brush

Process:

This fun art project is great for children as young as 3, but parents must help at all stages to keep the project on track. Cut the apple vertically in half. Rub the cut side of the apple into orange paint on a paper plate, then place the painted side of the apple down on a piece of white construction paper. The painted shape on the paper is your “pumpkin.” Repeat this once or twice, so there are several pumpkins on the paper. Allow the paint to dry, then use the paintbrush to paint a green stem. Use black paint to make shapes for the jack-o-lantern’s eyes, nose and mouth.

Leaf Rubbings

Materials:

  • Leaves
  • Thin white paper
  • Crayons (paper labels removed) or chalk pastel

Process:

This classic art project has been a favorite in schools and preschools for years. Place a leaf down on the table, then place a piece of paper over it. Rub the paper in the area over the leaf with the side of a crayon or pastel. The texture of the leaf will appear through the paper.

Leaf Tree Project

Materials:

  • Large leaf (not too brittle)
  • Fingerpaint
  • White construction or craft paper

Process:

Leaf Tree Project

Materials:

  • Large leaf (not too brittle)
  • Fingerpaint
  • White construction or craft paper

Process:

This is a great project to do with very young children. Paint a large, textured leaf with finger paint using a variety of colors, then press the leaf into the white construction paper. The leaf will leave textured, colorful paint on the paper in a shape of a leaf. Repeat this process to create a beautiful pattern of leaves on the paper.

Spray Mounted Leaves

Materials:

  • Leaf
  • White squares of card stock, approximately 4 inches by 4 inches
  • Spray mount

Process:

This project is simple and elegant. Go on a nature walk with your children and collect leaves together. Once home, use spray mount to attach your favorite leaves to white cards, then attach those cards to your walls.

Apple Garland

Materials:

  • 10 Burlap squares, approximately 5 inches by 5 inches
  • Apple and knife
  • Green, red and brown paint
  • Paper plates
  • Paint brush
  • String

Process:

This cute, easy to make garland looks great in the dining room or living room. To make this project, cut an apple in half. Dip the cut side of the apple into green paint on a paper plate, then stamp a green apple shape on five of the burlap squares. Repeat this process stamping red apple shapes on the remaining five burlap squares. Use the paintbrush to paint brown seeds in the center of each apple. Run a string through the burlap to make a garland, then let the paint dry.
