Ideas for Dry Erase Paint
At Ace Paint and Unfinished Furniture, we’re proud to announce that we have a new product on our shelves! Dry erase paint, made by Smark, turns any surface into a dry erase board. Whether you’re looking for a creative outlet for drawing and doodling, or you’re in search of a work surface for generating collaborative ideas, Smark is the product that can help you turn almost any flat surface into a dry erase board.

Dry Erase Desktop

Turn the top of an old work desk into a work surface for taking notes, drawing pictures and writing to do lists. Dry erase desktops look great! Take a look at this blog post online that describes the process for turning an old wooden desk into a dry erase board.

Wall-to-Wall Dry Erase

Start up companies have a way of popping up in warehouses, old commercial buildings and in residential basements. Often these facilities lack specially designed collaborative work spaces for workers to come together and generate ideas for the business. Dry erase paint allows you to create a collaborative work area anywhere in your office space.

Kid’s Play Area

Kids love to draw on walls, floors and everywhere else. As a parent, you might discourage your child from drawing on the television in crayon, but what if you could turn the walls into a surface where your child could draw with dry erase markers? Give your child a place to draw creatively by painting the walls of your child’s nursery, toy room or bedroom in dry erase paint.

Home Entryway

The home entryway is a perfect place to leave notes for loved ones as you come and go throughout the day. Paint the walls of your home’s foyer or paint the surface of a closet door, then leave a dry erase marker attached to the entryway table or attach one to the wall.
Teenager’s Bedroom Door

Teenager’s Bedroom Door

Do you and your teenager keep separate schedules? Is it hard to find time to talk to each other? Paint your child’s bedroom door with dry erase paint, and then you’ll have a surface where you can leave plainly visible notes to your child.

Proper Use of Smark

Proper application of Smark allows you to get the most out of your dry erase paint. You may apply the paint to any surface coated in a semi-gloss, eggshell, satin or gloss finish. Use the following process:
  1. Repair any holes and divots in the surface about to be painted.
  2. Sand the surface smooth.
  3. Clean the surface.
  4. Mark off the edges of the painting surface with blue painters tape.
  5. Apply primer to the surface.
  6. Allow the primer to fully dry.
  7. Open the Smark paint components and mix them together.
  8. Apply Smark to the primer surface and allow the paint to dry.
You can read more about the process on the Smark website, or you can learn about paint application by coming in to Ace Paint and Unfinished Furniture. We’ll be happy to give you more information about painting surfaces with Smark.
